Prior to now George has served as Deputy Regional Administrator for the
five-state Greater
Southwest Region headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. George joined the Senior
Executive
Service in November 2003. George is currently serving as the Executive in-charge
of the
Outgoing Presidential and Vice Presidential transitions.
George recently served as Co-Chief Negotiator for the national AFGE contract. He
is a member
of the GSA Human Capital Council.
In the region, George chairs the Acquisition Council, the Marketing Council, the
Green
Council, the Financial Council and the Executive Council. He is active with the
region’s
internal controls, small business, human resources and civil rights programs.
George has a variety of accomplishments in GSA including participating in the
acquisition of
five office buildings, directing the Region’s capital building program,
co-leading the
Region’s Border Station Improvement program, serving as Director of Real
Property Disposal,
as well as the Director of Planning, and as Acting Assistant Regional
Administrator for
Public Buildings Service. Prior to GSA, George was a study manager for Civil
Works Projects
with the Corps of Engineers.
George is a frequent lecturer on government acquisition, and was a member of
Toastmasters
International for many years. He teaches a course twice yearly on the National
Environmental Policy Act at Duke University.
George is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in civil
engineering
and holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Arlington. He also is a
graduate of the
Corps of Engineers Planning Associates Program in Washington, DC, the Federal
Executive
Institute and GSA’s Advanced Leadership Development Program.
George is active in his church and has co-founded three dads groups in his local
diocese.
He serves on the Local Combined Federal Campaign Coordinating Committee and
previously
served on the YMCA board of directors. He is the FEB ADR board liaison, and is
on he FEB
Policy Committee. He is a past president of the Federal Business Association,
and is active
in other community activities. In his spare time, he enjoys outdoor activities
from
landscaping, to camping to dirt-bike riding. He and his wife, Darlene, have four
daughters.
